The Gurning Man of Glasgow, 1976

In February 1976, a woman walking home in Crosshill, Glasgow, froze as a man with a distorted, grimacing face suddenly leapt from the shadows, arms waving, making no sound at all. For weeks after, at least six other women described the exact same terrifying figure, always silent, always contorting his face in the dark. Police called him the Gurning Man but every attempt to catch him failed-he vanished before patrols could even respond. No one was ever attacked or robbed, just left with the memory of that impossible expression. To this day, no one has identified who or what the Gurning Man of Glasgow actually was.
