Janet Hodgson, just eleven years old, was captured mid-air above her bed in Enfield, North London, in August 1977, her nightgown twisted and her face frozen in shock. Hours before, her family had called police to their council house, claiming that furniture moved by itself and thick knocks echoed through the walls. As word spread, investigators witnessed toys being hurled, metal bending, and Janet herself speaking in a guttural male voice no child her age could fake. Photographs showed Janet hovering feet above the floor with nothing nearby to support her. What still haunts those who were there is that not one camera ever caught her jumping, only the silent rise-again and again-in front of police, family, and reporters.
