Script

A pale face flickered on Chungking Mansions’ elevator security footage from April 2006, staring out of an open shaft where no one was supposed to stand. Night after night, cleaners reported the doors sliding open on the 14th floor, revealing an empty void and the sound of ragged breathing just beyond view. Residents say they hear footsteps pacing behind them, but the elevator never shows another passenger. The records trace back to a fire in 1988, when seven people were trapped between floors-and since then, every time midnight strikes, one shaft opens to where time stopped and none of those seven ever left.
