The Donkey Lady Bridge, San Antonio 1950s

In the early 1950s, drivers crossing Applewhite Road near San Antonio swore they saw a hunched figure with coarse hair, hooves instead of hands, and burning eyes glaring from beneath the Donkey Lady Bridge. Locals whispered the screams that echoed off the water weren’t human, and anyone who honked or taunted the bridge would leave with deep scratches on their car. Reports kept coming, always describing the twisted silhouette lurking just beyond the headlights. The story began when a woman trapped in a fire was disfigured, cast out, and said to haunt the spot ever since-her face and voice forever changed into the creature people still fear meeting on that bridge.
