Script

In 2024, Marrow Funeral Home reserved twelve empty seats for people I remembered. The director knew my birthday and told me my body was ready for viewing. At Marrow, each seat bore a name: my mother, my brother, my oldest friend. In the open casket, my double was still breathing. As I backed away, he opened his eyes and screamed, “Don't let him leave! He killed all twelve!”

Caption

A funeral home viewing at Marrow Funeral Home begins with empty seats reserved for people the narrator remembers. A breathing body in the casket reveals why no one has arrived.
