At exactly midnight on June 25th, 1911, hotel staff found the grand piano playing itself in Room 217 at the Stanley Hotel, but Flora Stanley, who was last seen crossing the hallway moments earlier, was simply gone. The air smelled sharply of sulfur, every lamp shattered, and a single boot lay in the center of the room, still warm. Guests swore Flora’s perfume lingered for days, and nothing could remove the handprint she’d left on the windowpane.
