Creatomate Alternative: AutoFeed Video API vs Creatomate

Creatomate is a template engine: you design a video once, then fill it with your text, images and clips through the API or a spreadsheet. AutoFeed starts one step earlier. You send a topic and get back a finished faceless video with a script, generated visuals, a voiceover and captions.

Which One Should You Use?

Pick Creatomate when

  • You need pixel-exact branded templates: product videos, real-estate listings, personalized videos, banner ads.
  • Your content already exists (a spreadsheet, a product feed, a CMS) and only needs to be laid out and rendered.
  • You want an embeddable editor so your own users can tweak a video before it renders.
  • You also need still images and GIFs from the same templates.

Pick AutoFeed when

  • You want the content made, not only rendered: the script, images, voice and captions come from one request.
  • Your product needs faceless short-form videos (story slideshows, Reddit-style stories, quiz formats, fake texts, UGC ads) or AI video clips from 28 models behind one endpoint.
  • You would rather pay a known price per finished video than add up render minutes plus separate script, image and voice costs.

Using both. They can work together: generate the narrated video with AutoFeed, then drop the MP4 into a Creatomate template as a video element to add your branding, intro or end card.

AutoFeed vs Creatomate: Questions

Is AutoFeed a drop-in replacement for Creatomate?

No. Creatomate renders templates you design, with media you supply. AutoFeed has no template editor; it generates the content itself in fixed formats. If your videos are layouts filled with your own data, Creatomate is the closer fit.

Can Creatomate write the script and voice the video?

Per their docs, AI voice and images run through providers you connect with your own keys (ElevenLabs, OpenAI, Stability), and the script comes from your side of the pipeline. With AutoFeed, script, images, voice and captions are part of one request and one price.

How does pricing compare?

Creatomate bills credits by output size and length, from $54/mo (Essential, 2,000 credits). The API is included with Ultimate at $249/mo for 180k credits a month, with bigger Ultimate sizes for more volume. At that price an AI slideshow of 45 to 60 seconds costs about $1.66, so the base plan covers about 150 of them a month. The same credits pay for dashboard videos and autoposting.

Does AutoFeed have a free API tier?

No. API access needs an Ultimate plan. Creatomate offers a 50-credit trial without a card.
