Nina and the Painted Star Diary, 2021

On the very first day of third grade in Willow Creek, Nina found a diary with a bright blue star painted right in the center. When she wrote, "Dear Diary, will tomorrow be better?" the answer appeared in sparkling green letters, even though Nina was home alone. Each morning, a new message waited, like "Don’t forget to wear your yellow boots today!"-and every tip saved her from puddles or made her giggle in class. But the real puzzle started when Nina wrote, "Who are you really?" and the diary responded, "Someone who believes you’re braver than you think-yourself from the future, Nina."
